Our practice offers you and your family a health care team of Pediatricians, Physician Assistants, and Nurse Practitioners to provide your child with high quality health care seven days a week.
We know how important your child's good health and development are to you. Your child's pediatric health care team plays an important role by providing preventive health care, helping you and your family through times of illness, and answering questions about common childhood problems. Our goal is to offer high quality medical care to our patients and to assist you in any way regarding the health needs of your family.

Physical Examination season is here once again! We are happy to start scheduling your Kindergarten, Jr. High, Sport, Camp, Scout, and College Entrance Physicals. When scheduling for your child's Kindergarten or Jr. High physical, please keep in mind that they will require shots before entrance into the 2012-2013 school season. Please bring any paperwork or immunization cards applicable to your appointment so the doctor is able to fill them out in a prompt manner. We ask that you do your part and have these forms filled out as much as possible before your appointment. The doctors in our office require a current physical in order to fill out any paperwork. Thank you for trusting Wasatch Pediatrics with the care of your kids!

Please also be aware we do have a new policy. If you do not have your insurance card with you, have a high deductible plan and your deductible has not been met, or do not have insurance we will require $50 at the time of check in that will be applied to that days visit.
Also- in an effort to accommadate all of our patients who need to be seen, if you do not cancel your well child appointment within 24 hours or a sick visit within 3 hours you will be charged a $25.00 no show fee.
- Meet Our Doctors -
Dr. Cynthia Owens has an extensive education which includes, Reed College, BYU Study Abroad in Vienna Austria, University of Utah, Temple University School of Medicine, University of Maryland Medical System and Oregon Health Sciences University. This has given Dr. Owens a very diverse background. She practiced medicine for two years in Maryland and has been with Wasatch Pediatrics at St. Marks since 1997 and shares her practice with Dr. Sally Ormsby. Cynthia is also an accomplished pianist and avid horsewoman. She and her husband are very busy raising their three active sons and charismatic daughter. Her quiet caring manner helps to put patients at ease and allows her to relate well to parental concerns.
Dr. Jenifer Sandvig was born and raised in Portland, Oregon. she attended the University of Santa Clara and the University of Oregon where she received a Bachelor's Degree in Biology and a Minor in Chemistry. She went on to receive a medical degree at Oregon Health Sciences University. She moved to Salt Lake City for her Pediatric Residency Program with the University of Utah. Although she originally planned to return to Oregon she fell in love with Utah and has remained here since 1993. Dr. Sandvig has also traveled the world. Some of her excursions have utilized her medical skills to help people in developing countries while others were purely for adventure. Meeting people from around the world and seeing how they live has given her a unique perspective on life. In 2005 Jen married her husband and a year later they welcomed their son who has been a constant delight in their lives. As a family they enjoy skiing, hiking, biking, camping and anything that allows them to enjoy the outdoors. Dr. Sandvig loves caring for her patients, guiding them through their rough times and helping them heal. Her active personality and fun sense of humor helps her and her patients to get through it all.
Dr. Catherine Jolma is originally from Southern Arizona. Her college experience led her to Pomona College in Claremont, California where she reveived her bachelor's degree. She returned to Arizona after working for the National Park Service at the Grand Teton National Park. In Tucson she received her medical degree and completed her residency. She relocated to Salt Lake City in 2006 when her husband, also a pediatrician, took an academic position at the University of Utah. She has since worked for the Utah Department of Health and the University of Utah where she has focused on pediatric development. Dr. Jolma is the newest addition to the St. Marks family and has enjoyed helping her new patients here at Wasatch Pediatrics. She enjoys hiking, running, gardening and being outdoors with her husband, their son and their two dogs.
Dr. Sally Ormsby grew up in the Pacific Northwest. Her father's career as a physician heavily influenced and inspired her to become a doctor. She received her bachelor's degree at Bowdoin College in Brunswick, Maine which included studies at the University of St. Andrews in Scotland. She attended the School of Medicine at the University of Vermont. Her residency brought her to Utah and she fell in love with the state. Sally joined the Wasatch Pediatrics family in 1992 and shares her practice with Dr. Owens. She loves Utah and the accessibility of the diverse outdoor activities in the area. She enjoys all of the hiking, biking, cross-country and downhill skiing, camping and sight seeing opportunities offered throughout the state. She, her husband Bob, and their two beautiful daughters Callie and Isabel take advantage of these outdoor activities as often as possible. When she is not outdoors, she enjoys knitting, playing the guitar and watching independent films.
Dr. Ken Broadbent joined the Wasatch Pediatrics family at St. Mark's in June 2000. Prior to coming to Wasatch, Ken was the Medical Director of Night Time Pediatrics. He has also founded a hospitalist program prior to that. He attended Duke University School of Medicine and completed his Residency at the Harriet Lane Clinic at Johns Hopkins Medical Center in Baltimore, Maryland. Ken has been married to his wife Jan, an Allergist, for over twenty years. Together they have three children who they fully support in all of their pursuits. Most of their free time is spent at horse shows, soccer tournaments, and visiting family out of state. Ken also enjoys art, photography, horses, camping, and traveling.
Dr. Angela De La O was born and raised in Salt Lake City. She received her Bachelor's Degree at the University of Portland in Oregon and returned home to attend the University of Utah School of Medicine. She also completed her Residency there and became the Chief Resident at Primary Children's Medical Center for a year. She was hand picked by Dr. Thomas Metcalf to continue caring for the patients in his practice after his retirement. She joined Wasatch Pediatrics here at St. Marks in 2010. Her husband has just completed his Phd and they have two adorable sons. Her bubbly personality has been a welcomed addition to patients and staff alike.
Lou Melini, PA, has been a Physician Assistant since 1992. He has been with Wasatch Pediatrics since 1995. He has additional training in kidney diseases in children and served as a test writer for PA National Boards for 8 years. He has also served as a clinical instructor for several physician and physician assistant programs. Prior to being a PA, Lou was a registered Nurse at Primary Children's Medical Center from 1979-1991. His wife, Julie, is a Nurse Practitioner in the ER department at Primary Children's Medical Center and is a Forensic Nurse. They enjoy traveling by bicycle and backpacking together and have two adult sons, Ben and Carlo. Lou is active in the community having served as a soccer coach and currently serves as an assistant Scout Master. He has also been a member of the Canyon Rim Community Council for the past 14 years. He is most noted in the bicycling community as a daily bike commuter, writer and bike transportation advisor. His bike travels include riding across the United States. Lou also grows a lot of vegetables in his 1000 square foot garden.
Renee Kindler, NP-C is a nationally certified Family Nurse Practitioner. She received her Bachelor's Degree from Boise State University. After working as a Registered Nurse in Neonatal Intensive Care, she returned to academia to earn her Master's Degree at Gonzaga University in Spokane, Washington in 1999. Prior to joining Wasatch Pediatrics, she practiced for five years in Boise at a pediatric office. Her other past experience includes five years in rural health clinics in both Idaho and North Carolina. Personally, Renee loves being a wife and a mom. She also enjoys caring for your children from infants to teenagers.
