All about HIPAA

HIPAA is the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act. President Clinton signed this federal mandate into law during 1996. The main goals of HIPAA are:

  • guarantee health insurance coverage of workers during job transitions
  • protect privacy of patient records
  • promote national, uniform security standards for the secure electronic transmission of health information
We are currently HIPAA compliant. Our employees and physicians have all been trained in how to protect patents' private health care information, how to secure patient records both on paper and electronic systems, and we have also created a statement of how our medical practice may use and disclose information in the medical record for the purposes of treatment, payment, health care operations, research, marketing, etc. This is known as the Notice of Privacy Practices.

We have included a copy of our Notice of Privacy Practices here on our website.
